A lot of the states here utilise and recommend it.
The simply affair to ever look out for is if when you lot are installing any downloaded 3rd political party program is to ever wait at the "fine print" and make certain that you uncheck any other check boxes for 3rd party programs that they may want to bundle with information technology, whether it be Google Chrome, McAfee AV, etc, etc.

I downloaded TreeSize Gratis. Give thanks you for this link.
One particular which is taking upwardly 52 GB is $Recycle.Bin - however, I empty my recycle bin from fourth dimension to time. Even though I have emptied my recycle bin, does this mean they are non permanently deleted and therefore, keep to take up hard bulldoze infinite? If so, how do I free up this space? Thanks.
I besides meet 29.2 GB taken up by iphone software updates Restore. Are these needed? Screenshot beneath. If these tin be deleted, tin can they be deleted inside TreeSize or via Explorer? Thank you again.

Once you "empty" the Recycle Bin, the space occupied past those files is available for use.
That is, the 1s and 0s of the files are however in that location (which is why data recovery software tin piece of work), but the operating system (Windows) will re-classify those locations -- i.eastward., put a new pattern of 1s and 0s in those locations -- when there is a need to salve something (which is why data recovery software is less and less likely to work the longer you wait to use it).
If you choose to backup your iPhone to your own computer rather than to iCloud, generally, only the most contempo fill-in is kept. Also, if you have (or accept had) more than one iDevice connected to this computer via iTunes, at that place may be a backup for each device.
In that location are some circumstances when y'all may end up with more than ane backup per device. These circumstances have inverse over the past several versions of iTunes, and I'm not certain of what causes multiple backups these days. I've been unable to detect any documentation that explains how to prevent the electric current version iTunes for Windows from overwriting an iPhone backup in society to create multiple backups.
In whatever event, open up iTunes and go to Edit > Preferences. Select "Devices."
Y'all'll see all of the backups saved by iTunes. Select any that you want to delete and click the "Delete" button.
Yous certainly tin delete backups for iDevices that you no longer use. Whether you lot want to keep more than than the most recent backup for any iDevice that is in electric current utilize is entirely up to yous. In general, there's no need to exercise that.

Why Deleted Files Can Be Recovered, and How You Can Prevent It
When you delete a file, Windows removes the pointer and marks the sectors containing the file's information as available. From the file system's indicate of view, the file is no longer present on your hard bulldoze and the sectors containing its data are considered free space.
Yet, until Windows actually writes new data over the sectors containing the contents of the file, the file is nevertheless recoverable. A file recovery program can scan a hard drive for these deleted files and restore them. If the file has been partially overwritten, the file recovery program can only recover part of the data.

ElderN, thanks for this. I checked my Windows/Temp folder today...it has 153 GB which is 1/3 of my hard drive. My other employee has 200 GB in their folder.
Is it safe to delete everything in this folder?
How chop-chop will it re-accumulate?
Is information technology safe to follow the procedures in the article you referenced to preclude this recurring?
I'thou glad we found the effect...this has been very frustrating. Thanks and so much.

I would say that anything in the TEMP folders is a candidate for deletion and I don't know why Windows 7 sometimes puts all those files out at that place - it is merely a proficient thing to wait at when at that place is a big clamper of missing unaccounted for storage space. That characteristic may be role of the problem or it may not merely it simply takes a few seconds to cheque. Unless you lot are troubleshooting a trouble all those log files are useless.
I doubtable that when things exit of manus with those log files information technology is because somebody has been doing some troubleshooting beforehand, probably following suggestions that brainstorm with the give-and-take "try" instead of suggestions that begin with the word "exercise". After lots of trying various things the system ends upwardly with lots of log files.
The built in Windows Disk Cleanup feature which most folks run periodically does a poor task of cleaning up and there are some free third party programs that will do a much better task and many folks similar:
CCleaner
Almost folks volition say Not to apply the Registry Cleaner option of CCleaner and I take never had a problem with information technology but when I practice use the feature I ever know that I take a tested program for how I am going to recover my organisation from a no boot scenario (or other malfunction) should it occur. I am non afraid of registry cleaners.
As an experiment accept a look at your Windows Temp folder and the temp folder that every user has <username>\appdata\local\temp or to see the temp folder for your logged in user click the Starting time button/orb and in the box enter:
%temp% followed past the Enter cardinal.
Take a wait in each folder to meet all the stuff that'south in there, then right click each temp binder, choose Properties to see the total size and make a note of each.
Run the Windows Disk Cleanup and check the folders again - some things are cleaned up and the size is smaller but even so lots of temp stuff.
So apply CCleaner and cheque the folders again - what a deviation...
